As one of the first two Fellows appointed, I had the tremendous opportunity to help pilot the Network Fellows program while supporting the work of Rep Barnes on the State’s K-12 Education Committee.I authored a cosponsorship memorandum for Representative Barnes’ Community Schools bill that was circulated throughout the Legislature and used as a guide for media interviews, drafted briefing materials, and wrote correspondence to constituents. Additionally, I cultivated relationships between policymakers in the Legislature and experts from the UW-Madison School of Education to inform statewide education policy and to guide research priorities on campus.
