During my time in this key leadership role in the Office of the City Manager, I have led efforts across 22 departments to create opportunities and remove barriers for people to connect, understand and become involved with their local government. I am responsible for the overall operations, policy creation and budget preparation and I manage a people-focused team ranging from 311 call center representatives to administrative employees and creative experts. I have extensive experience and expertise in leveraging performance measurement data and qualitative data to guide decisions and create or improve new programs or services. This opportunity allowed me to build on my decades-long approach to changing how we listen, engage and think about City services delivery. In this role, working with employees and residents, I facilitated and managed projects including topics such as strong neighborhoods, inclusive communications, employee retention and social justice efforts by using human-centered design principles and methods.

As the City’s Creative Manager, I worked to ensure the City had a clear, concise andcomprehensive communication message. That included effective print and digitaldesigns; an engaging, relatable and consistent social media presence; and creating andmaintaining effective working relationships with City employees at all levels of theorganization.

The position’s primary responsibility was to effectively communicate information to Oklahoma City residents, City employees, businesses and other stakeholders about City services, programs and events through traditional and digital avenues such as the City’s website, social media, newsletters and other platforms. Essential job functions included: developing messaging strategies and content for our online and print platforms including, but not limited to social media, okc.gov, eNewsletters, email, the City’s employee intranet portal, brochures, fliers and signage; implementing communications plans and/or promotions; researching, writing and proofreading to ensure clear, concise and understandable information; creating public relations strategies; writing news releases; and website maintenance and content creation. The position required well-developed communication skills to maintain effective working relationships with City employees at all levels of the organization, outside agencies, media representatives and the public. Additionally, this position was responsible for overseeing graphic design projects from concept to completion, including the development of effective marketing and communication materials to support print and digital marketing efforts across the organization.
