Researched method of measuring the sound power of a source and the absorption in a room using energy density. I have gained experience in many areas including: - Sound field modeling in Matlab and EASE- Genetic algorithm optimization- Sound power measurements using the B & K Pulse system- Room acoustic measurements using EASERAI was also involved in a study on characterizing vocal strain in teachers. We recorded noise levels in the classroom throughout the day using multiple microphones (calibration and noise analysis done in Matlab) and syncronized that with vibration data measured from the teachers vocal folds using an accelerometer worn around the neck. We also measured many architectural parameters (such as reverberation time and Speech Transmission Index) in the classroom. As a graduate student I was employed as a teaching assistant, and had the opportunity to develop several labs for students to practice using and measuring acoustic systems. Some of the labs included: - Dynamic signal analysis- Electroacoustic systems measurement and modeling in PSpice- Loudspeaker directivity- Loudspeaker impedance measurement and enclosure modeling

I performed and analyzed distortion and performance measurements for microphones, balanced-armature receivers and telecoils. This was all done using a Rohde & Schwarz UPV analyzer and MATLAB. I analyzed vibrational characteristics of receivers using a laser doppler vibrometer. I also investigated ultrasonic characteristics of certain transducers using an anechoic chamber and an 1/8" microphone and super tweeter. All of this analysis involved writing reports for internal documentation as well as external reports given to other departments within the company.
