This role introduced me to all accounting processes and included such duties as logging purchase invoices on SAGE as well as sales invoices with perfect accuracy to ensure there are no errors. I created and maintained spreadsheets for the managing director regarding the company performance. I managed and maintained the monthly summary of the companies debtors and creditors. I assisted with checking the time sheets of all employees to ensure all details are correct for payroll. I also completed the daily and monthly reconciliations for the accounts as well as assisting the QA manager in collecting and updating of company records.

While at Stryker I worked as a temporary warehouse operative in the goods out department. My role is mainly picking and packing the medical equipment to be shipped that day. While also working closely with the customer service department to help solve any issues the customers may have. After being there a while I was entrusted with training up new staff in my department and helping all the current staff with issues they may have and teaching them how to solve the problems themselves in the future. I also helped out in a couple of other departments within the company and learned how to store incoming products and book them in. I also got trained up in the kits consignment team where I learnt even more about the importance of being accurate. I also learnt the basic uses of the Oracle system including placing, checking or amending orders within the system.

While at TK Maxx I was been able to enhance my customer service skills as the company puts huge emphasis on its customers. I have also learnt different organisation techniques and seen how they can improve the company and make the shop run more smoothly. I also became a valuable member of the processing team which involves sorting the delivery into departments ready to go straight onto shop floor, doing this I learned the importance of working on a time limits and accuracy of work. While here I was also trained up on and trusted with the end of day shutting down of the shop and also cashing up the daily takings.

This was my first paying job and it gave me a true insight into working life. I learnt about all aspects of retail as I was involved in everything in the shop including; the importance of good customer service, merchandising, stock control, end of day banking, sorting daily change requirements, dealing with customer complaints, drawing up daily and weekly plans for the staff and then supervising them and helping to the best of my abilities when required to make sure the tasks were completed to the highest quality. I also had to do the end of week paperwork and reports, mark down weekly/monthly takings and do payroll
