Conceived and guided the development of multiple company products using natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning techniques to improve how unstructured documents are utilized within both payer and provider workflows. Designed and implemented an image-based document similarity search of a large EMR document database using deep learning-based computer vision techniques. Led a team of data scientists to develop numerous novel data science methods & visualizations, including implementation of a medical document augmentation and summarization pipeline. Presented to multiple potential clients and internal/external stakeholders, including health insurance payers, providers, and healthcare data companies, helping spur the development of a data architecture plan capable of serving such analyses in a more robust and dynamic environment. Guided the development of company-wide data acquisition and enrichment strategies. Provided ongoing sequencing analysis and subject matter expertise to sister company ImmunityBio to support their drug pipelines and related FDA submissions, including the development of a first-of-its-kind NGS-based method to determine clonality of drug candidate cell lines that I invented. Designed a more robust & scalable computing infrastructure for sequencing data analysis onto which I rebuilt and tested Omics Core sequencing analysis pipelines.

Developed Omics Core, a FDA-approved Tumor-Normal mutation profile test with a "true" estimate of tumor mutation burden based on whole exome sequencing data. Helping to build an immunotherapy-specific platform that integrates specialized technologies developed by the company with known biomarkers (DNA- or RNA-based) associated with immunotherapy efficacy.

Developed numerous tools used to analyze raw and processed sequencing data from tumor and normal tissue samples (DNA or RNA). Designed and developed a flexible, app-based platform for generating clinical and research-use-only reports from results of processed patient sequencing data, viewable on the web or PDF formats. These clinical reports were the basis of the GPS Cancer product, providing doctors with genomically-informed therapeutic recommendations to help treat thousands of cancer patients.

Developed patented technology (BamBam) I spun out of the University of California, Santa Cruz into a commercial product, offering rapid sequencing alignment and analysis via a web-based platform.

Designed & tested submarine sonar arrays. Developed algorithms for processing sonar data for signal localization & calibration.
