My work included designing core frameworks and large integrated systems, developing APIs and services, troubleshooting issues, supporting existing applications, managing virtual servers, providing technical advice and expertise, and collaborating on large projects and implementations.

As a Web Developer and Designer at SAIF I was required every day to understand all of the layers of the full stack. Most of my work was on a small team and ranged from building the user experience and understanding our users, to modelling the data correctly (SQL and NoSQL), designing and developing .NET MVC Applications in C#, and making sure that our applications scaled well in our production environments. This also included working and communicating with experts at the systems and networking level.Along with understanding and working with most of the stack, our team and work involved taking projects through all stages of the development process. This included research, requirements, design, development, automated testing at both the unit and integration levels, and finally maintaining support for our released products.

During my time at Nevada Dynamics, we were in the process of developing a real-time air traffic control and path planning system for domestic UAVs. This software system, once scaled, was intended to be capable of controlling any number of autonomous aircraft without human intervention; creating optimal paths around obstacles, elevation changes, weather concerns, no-fly zones, and even other moving aircraft. This system was intended to facilitate regulation and commercial integration, allowing any business that wished to utilize UAVs the ability to do so without having to become a certified pilot, spend valuable time away from their business “flying” the aircraft, pay for costly long-range radio equipment, or even understand governmental regulations. By integrating with the current air traffic control system already in place, we focused on being able to provide regulatory agencies and government authorities the ability to reroute any UAV in the air or create dynamic no-fly zones on command, providing an unprecedented level of control of the nation’s airspace.

My research was primarily focused on Human-robot Interaction. It was necessary for me to be fluent in Python and C++, but also be flexible in adapting to specific tools like R for statistics and ROS when developing packages for robots (Pioneer 3DX, the Aldebaran Robotics Nao robot, Rethink Robotics'​ Baxter, and Willow Garage's PR2). Along with robotics development, HRI research, and statistics, I developed the Robotics Research Lab web application using Python and Django.

I was primarily responsible for assisting the Manager of Application Development and Web Developer in custom development tasks related to the top-level university website and content management system. This included both new feature development and modification/maintenance of existing features. I offered support, training and troubleshooting assistance for a CMS to users across campus and ensured that the website was compliant with WCAG and Section 508 web accessibility standards. All development took place using C# in a MVC .NET environment, along with HTML5, CSS3, Javascript. I worked with the XML-based web content management and publishing system, Ingeniux 8.0.
