While the Americorps program had existed at Cottonwood High School for a number of years, it was insufficient and unorganized when I arrived. My primary role was to ensure that 60 students earned enough credits to graduate, despite various degrees of insufficiencies. In order to do this I fostered relationships between administration, counselors, and teachers to restructure the entire procedure of the program. I also developed effective reporting strategies and oversaw the work of a team of 5 other volunteers.Additionally, I managed the school's food pantry. Upon my hire the relationships between the food pantry volunteers, the school, and the foundation who funded the pantry were in shambles. I was asked to step in to ease tensions and facilitate interactions between the three parties.

Greater Salt Lake City Area

The GEAR UP Grant is a college preparedness grant awarded to in need schools throughout the country. My hire marked the first year that Cottonwood High School received the almost $150,000 grant. I coordinated services and events at the school level for a cohort of 450 students. In addition I managed the budget, reported financial materials, and ran data throughout the year. I worked closely with Utah State University, the Granite School District, Cottonwood High School, and various educational vendors in order to ensure that money was spent effectively.
