After closing down QuicWit in August 2021, I suddenly found myself unemployed for the first time since I was old enough to work. I'd worked through every school year and summer while in high school and college and never had more than a few days in-between jobs.So, I decided to take a break and spend some quality time with my family (who aren't getting any younger), pursue personal goals (like getting back into creative writing), and plan my next career move.

• Wrote and supported iOS (native Swift) and Android (React Native) versions of QuicWit. I also built a simple web interface (React JS) for managing the game.• Managed other developers and their work on the project through scrums, code reviews, system design reviews, and 1-on-1s.• Helped to define our product and continued to refine it over its lifetime.

• Worked with my colleagues on Next and stakeholders across the company to brainstorm future customer experiences, build detailed project plans based on those ideas, and then execute on those plans.• Ran or collaborated on numerous successful projects that “graduated” into new customer-facing features or spurred on further research.• Represented the Next team, Wayfair, and/or our projects at internal company events (all-hands, supplier summits) and external events (hackathons, tech talks).

• Led the client-side development of Wayfair’s View in Room 3D feature. This work helped Wayfair win multiple awards including a Webby and an Edison in 2018.• Participated in dozens of interviews, created best practices as part of the mobile teams’ hiring workgroup, and advised more-junior developers on how to interview candidates.• Created and helped to maintain an iOS framework called Core3D that facilitated faster 3D/XR feature development by providing basic functionality out-of-the-box (finding and loading product models, handling gestures, lighting the scene, etc).

• Wrote or otherwise worked on a large variety of features for Wayfair’s iOS/iPadOS apps.• Selected to be an official code reviewer and “deployment conductor” for iOS - trusted to be a gatekeeper for code making it to customers’ devices.• Headed up an iOS feature team where my responsibilities included: working with product to define our roadmap, architecting and helping to implement features on that roadmap, and managing the developers on my team.• Mentored more-junior developers across Wayfair’s mobile teams.

• Collaborated with my colleagues to collect requirements and design custom software systems that met our clients’ needs.• Developed and supported iOS applications in a range of domains from the simpler: social networking and shift reporting to the more complex: R&D and CAN bus data collection.• Represented the company at various events such as career fairs and WWDC.
