My internship involves processing and analyzing dirt and root samples obtained in the field for further analysis, as well as putting together structures for use in growing mangroves in the field and assisting researchers in data entry.

My volunteer work centered on the removal of the invasive South African orchid species Disa bracteata, Acacia longfolia and Watsonia from the Langwarrin Flora and Fauna park, an area containing a large amount of native orchids. Both leaf stage and flowering plants were removed across 9 different sites, and potential new hotspots of Disa were investigated (using community reports such as those from the app iNaturalist)
