Growing up, I saw my father working for aviation company and travelling often, and it was a dream came true when I finally joined PIA (Pakistan International Airlines). Despite not being a stranger to the aviation industry, it was still an ocean of learning for me. Every day, one had the opportunity to learn something new. Unlike many other organizations, an airline is an industry which consists of several different types of industries or departments within a single company. All the way from Marketing & Sales to Engineering, Customer Service to Flight Operations, Food Services to Financial Services to Corporate Services and more, all are led by Human Resources. However I am not limited to Canada but to the world, which is a very small place. Thank you.The work I did as an HR leader, involving the hiring new personnel from Pilots to Cabin Crew to Trainee Engineers, and many other categories of workers, was something I have always been proud of. Apart from hiring, I was also involved in arranging the training of new hires & their placement in different departments or cities. The work I did at PIA also consisted of the development of different job specifications and career planning via promotions, designations, etc. Aligning the potential to open or operate new flight routes with the current HR needs of the company was one of the most interesting aspects of my career. Conducting a review of HR requirements to implement via the change management was a challenge but it was also a feather in my cap. When you have such a varied category of workers, it is always a challenge to cope with their requirements as well as dealing with their representatives, unions, and CBA (central bargaining agent/agency). By using my skills as an HR leader, I had the opportunity to respond to and resolve their issues, while also keeping the best interest of the company in mind. Rising from a trainee Manager to the position of General Manager was an excellent achievement which made not only me proud but my family as well. After completing my journey with PIA and arriving in Canada, I have been looking for a new opportunity within the HR field. The need to Human Resources has grown even more and I am positive that a well established company will be lucky enough to benefit from my experience and services here in Alberta, Canada.
