  • Applied Thermal Engineering Journal
    Lead Guest Editor
Applied Thermal Engineering Journal Oct 2021 - Dec 2023
Special Issue on The challenge-led special issue series: Enhancement of heat transfer processes and energy applications with nanofluids, turbulators, and novel working fluids.https://www.journals.elsevier.com/applied-thermal-engineering/call-for-papers/special-issue-on-the-challenge-led-special-issue-series-enhancement-of-heat-transfer-processes-and-energy-applications-with-nanofluids-turbulators-and-novel-working-fluids. To enhance the heat transfer performances of the energy conversion systems, several researchers have reported studies where they have combined passive methods, which are employing nanofluids (mono and hybrid: suspending these particles, improve the thermal conductivity of the conventional heat transfer fluids) and turbulators (wire coil, vortex generators, twisted tapes, and baffles; which can promote turbulence in the fluid, for improving thermal efficiency), for improving the heat transfer of energy conversion systems, as well as reducing CO2 emissions and resulting in energy saving. This Special Issue welcomes original research articles and pioneering reviews on the domain of enhanced energy systems with various novel techniques. More specifically, experimental and numerical studies are included in this Special Issue with the emphasis to be given on the connection of renewable energy sources (solar energy, geothermal energy, and biomass) with energy systems by incorporating novel techniques (nanofluids, turbulators, novel working fluids). More specifically, the present Special Issue covers the applications of electricity production, refrigeration, heating, and polygeneration. Moreover, this Special Issue welcomes pioneering reviews studies that summarize and discuss the latest trends in the thermal enhancement techniques in thermal devices (e.g., heat exchangers), in energy applications (e.g., solar thermal systems), and the utilization of novel working fluids in thermodynamic cycles (e.g., power cycles, refrigeration cycles).
