•Teach the course ESE 202: Strength of Materials. This is a core course for the students in Environmental and Sustainable Engineering (ESE) Department and offered first time after the newly ESE department has been established at University at Albany. •Teach Design Lab course ECE 490/491. A two-semester-long capstone design experience that provides the opportunity for teams of students to propose, prototype/design, build, test, demonstrate, present and fully document a working prototype of a sophisticated electronic system.

Mentored two students from Colonie Central High School, Albany, NY. I helped the students to submit their project proposal on “Special Shoe for Lymphedema Patients” as IEEE EPICS challenge. The project proposal has been recognized as the best proposal and the students have been awarded the first place winning team of the 2018 Smart City of STEAM Challenge in coordination with EPICS in IEEE and the Project Fibonacci Foundation Inc. As the winning team, the students received $6,500 from IEEE for the development of the proposed special shoe and $4,000 in college scholarships from the Shoreline Group to further their education. Under my mentorship, the prototype of special shoe will be developed at the Tech Valley Center of Gravity, Albany, NY.

Mentored senior students of Shaker High School, Latham, NY to complete their 40 weeks long engineering capstone project. Students with their team members are advised every week at the Tech Valley Center of Gravity, Troy, NY to achieve their goals. Since Tech Valley Center of Gravity is a makerspace, prototyping center, and manufacturing business incubator, students are being advised and helped with proper facilities, including selecting the potential engineering problem, solving it, and developing the prototype.

I was the lead researcher in designing and developing a pilot-scale Hot Sieving ESP project suitable for treating the combustion gas from low quality coal and liquid fuels. During my tenure, I was awarded the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Visiting Fellowship (VF). I was also the lead researcher of the project “Advanced Pollutant Control for Power Generation with Carbon Capture and Storage (CSS).” My research responsibilities at CanmetENERGY involved:•Designing, developing and experimental testing of the novel Hot Sieving ESP with applications to advanced combustion systems for hot gas clean up; •Conducting literature review and study of multi-pollutant emissions control for fossil fuelled power plants;•Conducting experimental set-up of pilot scale Hot Sieving ESP unit for emissions control;•Conducting research by parametric experimental testing at bench and pilot scales;•Setting up of experimental units, development of mathematical models, data analysis and overall development of new concepts and technologies for advanced near-zero emissions systems;•Conducting experimental research on dielectric breakdown of different types of refractory materials for electrical insulation of Hot Sieving ESP prototype.•Analyzing experimental research data and disseminating the results in the form of publications;•Designing and developing a vibro-acoustic cleaning system in collaboration with National Research Council (NRC) for the Hot Sieving Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) technology;•Conducting experiments and analyzing data and results of vibro-acoustic cleaning system as in collaboration with Institute of Aerospace Research (IAR), NRC;•Designing and developing the concept of dual polarity reversing switching system for continuous operation of high voltage system; and•Preparation of the conceptual design of high-temperature, high-pressure test cell for sieving ESP.

As a Research Associate during my master’s and doctoral programs, I conducted research on a number of novel research projects including: •Sieving ESP, U.S. patent# 6,878,192, (2005);•Fly ash beneficiation with the application of Sieving ESP technology;•Testing of composite discharge electrode for the conventional ESP’s application;•Composite discharge electrode, U.S. patent#7976616 B2;•Feasibility testing of dry membrane-based Electrostatic Precipitator, U.S. patent#6231643 B1;•Efficiency testing of coated membrane ESP;•Experimental research on flow-induced vibration of membrane ESP and its effect on dust removal; and•Experimental research and analysis on acoustic cleaning process of membrane ESP.In these capacities, I:•Led research on Sieving ESP technology.•Directed the design and development of Sieving ESP both in bench and scale pilot scale.•Supervised other graduate student’s research work as a team leader of the graduate student research team.•Conducted experiments, analyzed experimental data and compared it with theoretically predicted data in a scientific manner.•Interpreted experimental data to produce professional quality technical reports, published scientific papers, prepared IP disclosure kit, and presented technical presentations to industry, government, and academic audiences.•Presented technical research papers at international, national and local conferences.As a Teaching Assistant, I assisted students with course work; proctored examinations; and graded exam papers for the following courses: •Methods of Engineering Analysis (ME 597) •Plasticity (ME 785)•Advanced Mechanical Vibrations (ME 510)
