Testing clinical DNA specimen for the purpose of diagnosing genetic diseases using manual and automated methods in a CLIA certified BSL-2 clinical lab. Essential tasks include: perform aCGH/SNP set up in 4-array, 8-array formats in addition to FRAG/Trinucleotide Repeat Expansion in pre/post PCR labs

ITMI conducts studies related to child health and chronic diseases. Studies are designed to build genetic models that help answer questions about individual predispositions to a disease, treatment and ultimately prevention.Having the privilege of working with the Senior Translational Research Scientist, I have learned to write Sanger Validation protocols for genetic variants that make people susceptible to diseases. Additionally, I was introduced to chromatograms interpretation and analysis. I did a TA PCR cloning to determine the mode of inheritance for a variant that was first Sanger validated.
