Project: Doura Power plant/Iraq, unit 5 and 6, The Rehabilitation of two 160 MW oil fired boiler/steam turbine unitsI provided field engineering services for the rehabilitation of two 160 MW oil fired boiler/steamturbine units at the Daura Power Station in Baghdad. I coordinated the replacement of the river water intake screening system, and plant pump, valve, and piping assessment, repair, andreplacement work. I supervised the subcontractor performing the installation and pre-commissioning, and managed and coordinated all on-site activities, as well as repairs to the existing intake structures. I developed field engineering and construction drawings. I specified and ordered materials; controlled, organized, and issued materials to workforce daily. I monitored construction works and resolved construction and startup problems, I replaced large vertical circulating water pumps, horizontal centrifugal pumps, progressive cavity pumps, diaphragm pumps, and chemical dosing pumps. I provided construction supervision with piping fit-up, field welding (under direction from the project field welding engineer), and rough and final alignments of the pumps. I performed P&IDs walk downs to identify deficiencies, and prepared punch lists for needed work and turnover. I supervised the repairing of different types of pumps that include daily and major maintenance to the boiler feed water pump, variable speed gear box, main cooling water pumps, chemical dosing pumps and other kind of pumps during the operation of theplant.
