Engineering Manager & Software ArchitectProcera Networks Jun 2004 - Nov 2005Built and managed the applications engineering group as part of the Taosecure and Procera merger. Worked with the CTO to help define the technology roadmap of Procera and collaborated with product marketing team to develop MRD and PRD’s. • Responsible for the implementation and delivery of the following products:• IM Executive, a Linux based appliance, which sniffs a network for instant message communication and stores it in a database for compliance purposes. The appliance was designed as a layer 2 bridge with an application firewall built at the kernel level. The firewall capability was to prevent SPIM, bots and P2P communication. • AAD (Automatic Anomaly detection), this was a product designed in collaboration with Portland State University. The product’s focus was to detect worms and botnets. The original code was monolithic so we expanded the code to work in multi thread mode with dual processor architecture. Efficiency of packet capture was also addressed by enhancing the Linux network stack to copy packets from layer 2 directly to user space. With improved packet capture efficiency and multi thread design we were able to achieve 1Gb/s line rate with low cost hardware. I was also responsible for realizing the benefits of network processor architecture on a Procera platform. I built a prototype solution, and combined efforts of PCI-X, NPU and FPGA to achieve a line rate of 2Gb/s.

CtoTaosecure, Inc May 2002 - May 2004Designed and developed intrusion detection and prevention technology called StealthResponse ™. The network security appliance sits as a layer 2 device capable of detecting sophisticated attacks using a hybrid approach of signature and protocol anomaly method. The product is also designed as an active intrusion detection device that can probe for DoS clients or Trojans. The product was successful with 4 beta customers. Also instrumental in building a management team to develop business plans, financial models, VC presentations and creating intellectual property documents including a patent. The company was later merged with Procera Networks.
