  • Mdpp | Marrakech Date Palm Project
Principle Investigator | Reseach And Development Operations
Mdpp | Marrakech Date Palm Project Mar 2015 - Present
My research is directed towards the enhancement of quality and protection by genetic structure and phylogeny comprehension of cultivars and wild types. Working on Date Palms (P. dactylifera L.), research focuses on molecular by cultivation prepotence through genetic markers for commercial applications, simultaneously holistically developing climate awareness entailments.Investigations of susceptibility to root based infection-causing pathogens in date palm, genomic structure and function of P. dactylifera L.’s innate immune receptors and the pathogen virulence effectors that trigger their action. The preservation of plant tissue material by cryo and long-term tissue culture cold protocols applied to fibrous morpho - types (Arecaceae). Other research involves using date palm bi-products as a source for high impact technologies, from biofuel resource applications to structural architecture and filtration apparatus, as a model crop system joining the Oryza sativa and Arabidopsis thaliana. Recently isolations of pharmacological compounds for mammalian health by seeds from elite and ancient cultivars. In extension, MDPP provides consultation to various facilities across the globe, as a master specialist in In-vitro technology, we have created a network of laboratories which collaborate by means of technology transfer and fulfilling supply and demand chain systems, worldwide. This role is a separate position from Technical Director at MDPP, overlapping exists but minimal.
  • Mdpp | Marrakech Date Palm Project
    General Operations And Technical Director
Mdpp | Marrakech Date Palm Project Jan 2015 - Present
Within the framework of the Kingdom of Morocco's Green Plan for the development of the Agricultural sector and providing valuable contributions in the rehabilitation of the date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) population and industry in the country and globally, Marrakech Date Palm Project (MDPP) is hereby to make its mark. As Technical Director at MDPP, a company representing world-leading expertise on date palm tissue culture, boasting over 30 years of experience developing date palm projects for several national institutions and international organizations. MDPP is successfully pioneering the commercial production of genetically diverse in-vitro palm plantlets of selected high-quality varieties on a large-scale.As Principal Investigator, through the vast research experience in the field and efficient use of cutting-edge Palmàprinting dates technology, our laboratory has developed an accelerated & reliable technique to mass propagate selected & sometimes rare date cultivars ( pollen inflorescence micropropagation ). The field of industrial agriculture is fast developing in the suitable barrier region and with an ever-increasing demand of planting material both at the local and international level, we may only be at 10% of global capacity in production of shared value of date palm fruiting and thus the mass production of a diversified genotype inclusive of all traits belonging to the varietal cultivar. Our production goal is; 250,000 propagules by end of 2030. Innovative tissue culture methods have lately received important recognition, MDPP is in a leading position as an effective leader in modern production in the date palm Industry. The ultimate goal there which MDPP strives for is providing assurance of a reliable nutrient source, unique in sustenance, where dates may one day be globally accessible, in summation the plight to eradicate chronic hunger and malnutrition in our lifetime to #ZeroHunger. http://www.mdpp.ma | http://zaidse.wixsite.com/mdpp
