1 year brand & marketing placement, within my 2nd and 3rd year of university. Work experience at an established marketing company that specialised in social media marketing. This provided me with a steep learning curve with regards to customers and consumers and what they look for in an effective online marketing campaign. One of the most important things I learnt, was how to sell products to different types of consumers. Retail job role working in the Audio & TV department at John Lewis. Staff in this company are expected to have a high understanding of all the products sold and are expected to be able to provide the best customer service possible. Before starting I had minimal knowledge about majority of the products, however within my first month I was able to learn about most of the products that were sold.Key Responsibilities- • Work with a team of sales assistants to ensure we meet our weekly sales targets.• Provide great customer service to all customers.• Ensure all customers problems are sorted and that they leave happy with their service.• Treat all customers equally and respectfully.• Know how to deal with all types of customers including those that become heated.• Learn how to close sales and generate sales.• Continue to learn about the continuous developments within technology to be able to give customers the most suitable information.

This was an IT based work experience placement. I was working with the programming team responsible for the cloud application. This team introduced me to simple coding and helped me to develop an understanding of how Hive information is stored using cloud technology. I was also given the task of reviewing the Hive web-site from a user's perspective to see if there was room for improvement. I had to present my findings to a board of senior executives, with recommendations on how the site could be improved.Key Responsibilities-• Work with the various different departments within Hive to get an understanding of what is needed to run a business of this scale.• Learn the basics of the coding systems used.• Understand the thought process behind the website design and functionality. • Voice my own opinions on what I personally thought could be improved.• Present in front of senior executives.
