I bring extensive experience in ship inspections, incidents management, staff training, mentoring and manpower planning. Proven experience in managing and coordinating marine incidents (pollution, collision, grounding, fire, man overboard and search and rescue operations). Has strong relationship management experience.   As a Port Authority, MPA regulates and manages port and marine services, facilities and activities within the Singapore waters. This includes vessel traffic and navigational safety and security, through regulation on operational efficiency and on the environment. The port of Singapore comprises a number of facilities and terminals that handle a wide range of cargo transported in different forms, including containers as well as conventional and bulk cargo. MPA employs approximately 680 staffs of different ethnic backgrounds of which 50 work in the Port Marine Safety department. A senior member of the Port Marine Safety team with responsibility for enforcing international and local maritime regulations in the port waters and safeguarding life, property and the marine environment. - Supervise and mentor new and junior staff members with a focus on inspection training. - Mann the Marine Safety Control Centre and Emergency Operation Centre during marine incidents. - Inspect approximately 30 ships per day including cargo carriers, container ships, small craft/boats. - Board vessels and inspect safety equipment and features. - Write inspection and incident reports and present to the shipping investigation department. - Manage a broad range of relationships internally across departments and externally with Singapore Coast Guard, Police, Customs and Immigration departments. - Updating of Marine Emergency Standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). - An active member of the Company Workplace, Safety and Health (WSH) Committee. - Educate shipping and boating community on maritime operational and safety matters. - Participate in marine emergency exercises and training for oil pollution, chemical pollution, fire and collision.
