I am a 22-year African American female who is also the first college student in my family. Growing up I have always wanted to help others. I have always had a fun and caring personality. I am currently a Certified Nursing Assistant/ Patient Care Technician in Myrtle Beach, Sc. Over the years I have obtained my OSHA certification, Certified Nursing Assistant license, Basic Life Support certification, and MedTech certification. The reason I chose this career path in Human Services/Social work is because I have always wanted to make a difference in people's lives and create a difference in the community. In my current career path, I use skills that I can apply in my new journey to become a Human Service/Social Work professional. I am suitable for this role because I feel I can relate to some of the struggles and problems of my clients. We all have divergent backgrounds and stories to tell that can help each other. Human service focuses on the problems in the community such as Domestic violence or elderly abuse etc. I was recently an Intern at Helping Hands North Stand. Their goal is to provide the most basic of services to the community's most vulnerable individuals. These include food, shelter, utilities, and clothing. They also help with SNAP applications and referral for our clients. Helping Hand is a non-profit organization that aims to provide emergency aid to the North Strand community.Furthering my studies would help me to achieve my goal of becoming a Human Service/Social Work Professional. I plan to achieve this using my communication skills, my determination to make a difference and being an advocate for my community.
