I began pursuing internships in baseball as a junior in high school and received my first opportunity with the Syracuse Chiefs. In this position with the Video Operations Department, I worked with the minor league coaching staff to capture video that was utilized to study hitting and pitching mechanics of Chiefs' players. Before home games, I met with the Chiefs’ coaches to review the video footage needed for each player, and recorded video of players from specified vantage points during every home game. These responsibilities provided access to MLB team scouts who also sought to study players from the same vantage points. Over the course of the summer, I connected with various personnel to learn about the baseball operations industry, traditional scouting techniques, and upcoming innovations in player evaluation.
