About David Zambrano, M.Eng., Pe, Se
I am a highly motivated and passionate civil-structural engineer driven to redefine the old-fashioned stereotype of engineers seen as introverted number crunchers. I consider myself highly adaptable and can comfortably operate either individually or in group settings, both client-facing and in the background. Different opportunities have granted me experience managing teams, projects, and clients as well as participating in more technical and mentorship roles. I strive to continue to develop as a strong technical resource and a successful manager/leader while also getting more involved with the business side of engineering. I received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University, focusing on structural engineering for both. I am also a registered professional and structural engineer with active licenses in multiple states. Most recently, I have focused on bridging the gap between existing practices and modern technologies to better solve client’s problems with safety, efficiency, and automation in mind. As a founding member of the SHM group, my responsibilities include client and project management of ongoing monitoring installations and engineering services, while also handling proposals for new work. I am directly involved in the development of the company's next generation proprietary SHM sensor inclusive of establishing product (hardware and software) requirements, vendor and consultant management, equipment testing, and defining use-cases by researching and developing analysis scripts that can be built into cloud automation. For the Federal group, I have been working to developing a robust method to assess current structural condition and long-term predicted degradation of concrete facilities, using SHM, FEA, nondestructive evaluations, and predictive material analysis. On the traditional engineering side, I am still actively involved with the structural department as a strong technical resource helping with personnel inquiries, calculation review, and implementation of new standards and procedures. In my spare time I enjoy both playing and watching sports, traveling someplace new, being outdoors, experimenting in the kitchen, and going out for walks with my dog.
