Chicago Scholars is a 7-year Leadership exposure program. My involvement in the Chicago Scholars Foundation has advanced my character and leadership qualities. The program itself exposes young adults to real-life situations that encourage overall development in academics and jobs. We are often involved in cohort discussions regarding preparation for real-life situations and create analyses of issues in local communities to build solutions. Student development within academics and the workforce is highly encouraged.

Aspire Institute is an immersive leadership experience that includes professional skills training, a course designed and delivered by Harvard faculty, and interactive seminars led by world-class educators. I engaged in immersive learning such as interactive lectures, case studies, and group discussions where I was able to develop strategic thinking, team management, and organizational change leadership skills while collaborating with peers from diverse backgrounds and industries.

As a Hospitality Operations Intern at Selina, I collaborate with various departments to ensure exceptional customer experiences, coordinate reservations, and provide support to hotel operations. I worked with a team of interns from across the US where we learned the ins and outs of digital marketing. As a team, we put together presentations based on our newfound learnings. We were able to apply our knowledge to real-life situations. My team and I developed a mock campaign and presented our work to our direct managers.

I worked with a freshman within the college of business to assist them with their resume, LinkedIn, and cover letter. We worked together over winter break sitting in on informational webinars to learn more tips for starting out in the College of Business. I also provided my own personal tips to remain on a successful track in college. Schoolmates describe me as an organized team player who is extremely creative and direct, with the ability to work well under pressure while also remaining open-minded.

During the internship, I had the opportunity to learn commercial real estate skills in a completely virtual environment. Students of diverse backgrounds were offered the opportunity to learn about commercial real estate with a team of mentors and fellow interns. I worked with a team of interns from all over the US. We were tasked with putting together a sales pitch where we present to investors about Real Estate Comps that would prove to be profitable. I participated in live deal competitions and learned how to evaluate properties, conduct market research, and create financial models. Our research was used for proposal in the Mock Investment Competition at the end of the program with Nationwide Virtual Intern Groups. Partnered up with Team La Salle Investment Management to develop a pitch for investors for a potential property with a team of fellow interns. Through the internship, my team and I pitched to investors for potential property development, progressing our presentation and leadership qualities, and making it to the semi-finals. My team had placed 4th in the semi-finals out of the 50 groups present. Through this experience, I have worked well within a virtual team. As a cohort, we assigned roles and responsibilities to ensure successful proposal completion. I focused primarily on property analysis. The internship itself helped me improve my public speaking capabilities and learn more about commercial real estate.

The position was a seasonal part-time job that occurred during the month of August for three years. I had cash-handling experience, provided customer service, and prepped food in a fast-paced environment.
