My role at Ruahine Kindergarten Association primarily sees me overseeing the Finance Team and being charged with the financial management of the Association's funds across all 23 Kindergartens, Early Learning, Home-Based and Association office. As part of the Senior Management Team I'm also hands on involved with the management of the day to day operations of our services and the long term strategic direction of the Association. Upon leaving Palmerston North Boys High School in 1998 I spent 16 years in various roles working for a Palmerston North Chartered Accountant firm. During my time in this environment I developed excellent communication skills, connecting and establishing rapport quickly with people from varied backgrounds and professions. Whilst working full time I also studied part time earning a Bachelor of Accountancy from Massey University. After 16 years of repetitive tax and compliance work I made the decision to change focus and take my skills learnt in the CA environment to a position where I could not only contribute to the overall success of the business but into a position that is challenging and varied, developing new skills along the way. Outside of work I spend most of my time with my Wife Jackie and our golden retriever Newman. I am on the management committee of the Feilding Rugby Club and try my best to get out fishing when time allows.
