Responsible for the continual design, deployment, and maintenance of a computer network that supports over 20,000 students, 5,000+ faculty and staff, as well as their research partners and affiliates. The network consists of over 1,000 network switches and hubs, over 900 IP-based security cameras, over 1,200 wireless access points and centralized controllers, 14,000 VoIP and TDM phone instruments, and a collapsed Ethernet backbone of a dozen routers coupled with firewalls. Technology deployments include IP routing, Ethernet switching, multicast, IPv6 routing, non-IP bridging, voice over IP (VoIP), 802.11a/b/g/n wireless, port security, dynamic ARP inspection, firewall and access controls, Intru- sion Prevention Systems (IPS), Virtual Private Networking (VPN), VSS, application load balancing, Generic Route Encapsulation (GRE) tunneling, and many others. Hardware deployments include Cisco 6500/7600 routers and switches, Cisco 4500 routers, Cisco 3560 switches, Cisco ASA and FWSM, Cisco CSS 11500 and ACE load balancers, Cisco WiSM and 4400 series wireless control- lers, HP ProCurve switches, Brocade/Foundry switches, Juniper NS5400 firewalls, Cisco ISR, and several models of network switches.
