Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, I was only able to achieve four weeks of work before the country went into its first lockdown and I was placed onto furlough.

During my time with Harbour Hotels, I consistently met personal and team targets. This was proven by my fast progression within the company. The General Manager of the hotel tasked me with working closely with stakeholders in the wider group, external suppliers and senior management within the hotel to develop and then maintain the high standard of service expected in a four-star hotel. Using guest feedback constructively enabled fast and effective changes to be made. With ProDive I worked and studied my way from a Divemaster to Instructor Scuba Diver. My time working at ProDive allowed me to develop and improved on my teaching and coaching abilities. I taught beginner and advance Scuba diving courses. It was my main responsibility to teach students to a competent standard which allowed them to progress in the world of Scuba Diving! (Please note, during this time, I completed 3 months regional work to extend my Australian visa)

I have a strong passion for sharks and their conservation, so I spent 3 months volunteering in Fiji. My role there involved survey diving, shark tagging, mangrove reforestation and much more. One of the main purposes was collecting data; whether that was the variety and frequency of shark sightings on dives, or for example the density of mangrove reforestation we achieved. All data was recorded and entered onto relevant websites or government databases. The results of my time there, and the ongoing efforts made by Projects Abroad, will help aid the protection of Fijian reefs and broaden local and global governments insight into the ocean ecosystems.

After finishing education, I travelled to the Bahamas to volunteer for Gapforce. After an initial 3 months of volunteer work, as a credit to my drive and passion towards conservation and the project itself, I was offered the opportunity to complete a Divemaster internship and become the Research Assistant on the project.I worked alongside the staff team to help train volunteers in surveying coral reefs and marine life.One of the main focuses of this project was researching sustainable tourism, and how to make it affective in more remote islands of the Bahamas.
