Zachary was born in Washington State and grew up on a farm near Quincy, WA. While in Quincy, Zachary learned the importance of family, a love of fishing and the outdoors, and the benefit of an active imagination.When he was 9, his family moved to New York where his father attended Cornell Law School. Three years later, his family moved to Phoenix, AZ where he lived through high school. While at North Canyon High School, he participated in several sports including cross country, soccer, and track. He was also an active member of the high school drama program and wrote and produced a one act play his senior year. He left Phoenix having learned that self-motivation and goal setting allowed him to accomplish what others couldn't.After high school, Zachary served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints in the Spain Barcelona mission. He worked with people from all walks of life, including native Catalans and immigrants from South America and Africa. He learned the struggles of the immigrant communities. He also learned the value for fighting for civil rights as he grew to cherish Catalan history and culture.He returned to the United States to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. While there, he met his wife and started his family. He also met many mentors that have influenced his career since. he studied languages and cultures, graduating with in Comparative Literature with a minor in Greek. He left BYU speaking four foreign languages: Spanish, Catalan, French, Greek.He then began a doctoral program at Stanford University in Iberian and Latin American Cultures and the Humanities. He was able to pursue his love of literature and the Catalan culture. Between teaching and researching, he learned Portuguese to compliment the other Iberian languages he already knew. Zachary also found that life at the University was too far removed from solving day-to-day problems of people. He left to study law having drafted his doctoral dissertation.Zachary then attended BYU Law School in Provo, UT. He focused his energy in raising his growing family and learning alternate dispute resolution techniques in addition to an understanding of the law. He joined his father's practice in Eastern Washington, focusing his energy in the practice of family law. Zachary also manages the marketing efforts of the firm to help spread the message about the important of family relationships and the ability for trained attorneys to help family members to have healthier relationships.
