About Martins Zaumanis

On my blog https://peerrecognized.com you will find tools that help scientists communicate.In my day job I am a road pavement scientist at Empa. In my research, I strive to bring sustainability to the core of road construction! To reach this goal I spend my days studying asphalt recycling, the use of waste materials in road construction and application warm mix asphalt technologies. I have gathered research experience in four countries. Since 2011 I have authored more than 50 publications where through exploring the fundamental material-related aspects, I present practice-oriented solutions to bring sustainability to practitioners. To increase the adaption of these technologies I have worked closely with multiple road administrations to improve road specifications, particularly towards increasing asphalt recycling and introducing performance-based approach in mixture design and quality control.Implementation of new technologies also depends on their acceptance in society and in the industry, therefore I communicate my findings actively through videos (see on my website http://zaumanis) and I have presented in TED conference (https://youtu.be/acbAthiKrnI). In 2016 I received the International Road Federation award for the best research project of the year.
