I lead on decision making around the modelling and appraisal specification and manage the implementation of creative, innovative and practical solutions for transport schemes with a focus on delivering schemes for £1.4bn Transport Fund. I ensure complex economic analysis is carried out in accordance with relevant guidance. I sit on the Gateway Peer Review Panel for transport fund submissions made by scheme promoters, provide challenge and recommendations for approval and/or actions need to meet an acceptable level for the Investment Decision Reports. I oversee the development and application of Urban Dynamic Model and manage its use for evaluating and prioritising transport scheme. I help to build up a centre of excellence for modelling and economic appraisal within WYCA. This includes fostering relationships with technical officers across the Districts, DfT, Highways England, consultants, PTEG and Universities and building a pool of knowledge, to provide modelling and appraisal advice and intelligence on economic issues across the urban transport agenda. I also co-ordinate the Transport Research Innovation Fund with academic partners, most notably ITS, University of Leeds.

Transport Modelling Advisor for Traffic Appraisal and Strategic Modelling (TASM) division. Responsibility includes maintaining National Transport Model, development of traffic forecast, congestion and scenarios. Day to day project management of NTM Futures, a large-scale update of spatially detailed version of NTM. Working closely with policy-makers to inform and shape policy and investment decisions. Providing timely and robust analytical evidence for ministerial submissions. Input into TASM research procurement. Acting as TASM representative to Analysis and Strategy Directorate Action Group to improve the management and collaboration of all divisions within the directorate. Helping the Analyst Network to deliver Knowledge Building Seminar Series for analysts and economists.

Technical expert, PRINCE2 Project Manager and bid manager for transport policy and planning, modelling and economic appraisal schemes. Developing business cases for major transport schemes for DfT, Highways England, local authorities and contractors. Enabling clients to deliver the necessary products to the required standard and quality by applying in-depth knowledge about DfT’s statutory procedures, WebTAG, DMRB guidance and Project Control Framework (PCF). Expert on SATURN,TUBA,MyRIAD,QUADRO,COBA,COBALT and Paramics. Projects includes Smart Motorway schemes for M25, M23 and M4; A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon; Morpeth Northern Bypass, POPE of Pinchpoints.
