It took me several years of being a leader to realize what a difficult yet important role it is.Ever since I was a young boy reading fantasy books about kingdoms and empires, kings and queens, armies and companies - I wanted to be a leader. Of course, there comes a time when you learn that leaders are not kings or queens, they don't rule over castles and people, they can't do whatever they want and they don't lead armies into wars, either.They don't cast judgements but listen to learn to understand others. They don't command but ask and provide guidance where needed. They don't enforce but inspire and motivate others to follow their lead. They don't dominate but empower their people to do what's best.Leaders are there to - quite literally - lead people; to lead them to a better world; to help them become their best selves; to guide them to do good things and to inspire them to do the same to others.It's not the role I imagined it to be as a teenager - it's much, much better.
