Hi, my name is Zbynek, and I am currently working as a QA Engineer at Alza.cz a.s., one of the leading e-commerce companies in the Czech Republic.My journey into the tech world has been anything but typical. For seven years, I worked at Sedlecký kaolin a.s., a mining company, where I initially started as a laboratory technician, handling and processing kaolin samples for testing purposes. During this time, I had the opportunity to study at the VSB - Technical University of Ostrava, where I earned my engineering degree in mining. This led to a new role within the company as a Safety Engineer for surface mines.After seven years in the mining industry, I sought a change. My growing concern about the exploitation of natural resources motivated me to explore different career paths. Through a relative, I learned about software testing and the possibility of starting as a Junior QA Tester at Alza.cz a.s. Although this field was completely new to me, I was intrigued. I did my research, studied relevant materials, and applied for the role. To my delight, I successfully navigated the interview process, including a case study, and began my career as a software tester.In the two years since, I’ve gained significant experience in manual testing, writing test cases, and using Jira for task management. I’ve also worked with Microsoft SQL Server to retrieve data from databases, evaluated both UI and API tests, and edited test data. Additionally, I’ve become proficient in using Postman for API testing. Thanks to my dedication and the support of my team, I’ve grown from a junior to a mid-level tester.I thrive in agile environments and have improved my communication skills by collaborating with cross-functional teams. Currently, I am focusing on expanding my skills in API automation with Postman and deepening my knowledge of SQL. In the near future, I also plan to explore UI automation testing.Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, traveling, playing table tennis, reading, and, most importantly, spending quality time with my family.
