Head Of Art
I have been an integral part of Dieste’s last transformation into one of DAS Omnicom Group’s most relevant agencies. Since 2013, I have efficiently led creative design projects and supported ongoing advertising campaigns for essential brands such as AT&T Entertainment, Fritolay, Cricket Wireless, GOYA Foods, The Hershey Company, Miller Lite, Pepsico, Dallas Pets Alive, & Wild Detectives Bookstore, among others. My main job at the agency is inspiring and guiding a talented group of art directors and designers. This role has been a fascinating challenge due to the diversity of the team. Most of which come from vastly different cultures and disciplines.Additionally, I had the privilege of overseeing and molding the overall design and looks our art directors would employ throughout significant projects. This responsibility is further highlighted on pitches and brand guidelines that I had the pleasure of developing. In the seven years working at Dieste, my work has been awarded several acknowledgments for different campaigns. For example, "ADOPTABLE TRENDS," the most award-winning idea at Dieste, created for Dallas Pets Alive, told the story of how we switched the rescue dog's names with the hottest trending topics to generate more exposure and reach their adoption. This idea was critically acclaimed at the top Creativity festivals: Cannes Lions, D&AD, One Show, Clio Awards, among other festivals, for its powerful but simple idea.
Group Creative Director (Art)
I was in charge of the creative direction for all ad projects at the agency. Part of my responsibilities was the creative direction and graphic development of campaigns and the coaching of the art director staff. For example, I was in charge of the innovative and visual approach for Visa's Debit Card 2013 Regional Campaign "NO TE LO PIERDAS" (don't miss it). The launch of this campaign took place in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, and Colombia. And it’s success led to high recall and affinity rates across Central America and the Caribbean. We created "BANCO DE VOZ" (Voice Bank), a project for El Tiempo Newspaper. Our team used the study and development of the graphic models for this digital platform and materials to showcase this project at the Cannes Lions 2013 international festival of creativity. As a result, the platform won the coveted Cannes Lion International Award in the CYBER category.I also worked for essential Colombian brands such as Grupo Exito, a renowned retail brand, Corona Group Building Materials, and Team Group Experts In Food And Oil Solutions.
Senior Art Director
I belonged to a renowned creative team in Colombia, where I was in charge of all art direction for an essential creative group at the agency. I was tasked with continually reviewing the graphic styling of all the brands within the group. Due to restricted budgets, we had the unique challenge of proposing innovative and eye-catching messages through in-house photography, illustration, and typography treatments. The expectations were clear, grow the brand day-over-day, using what was readily available.I created creative experiential campaigns for Pilsen Beer, particularly during one of the biggest festival celebrations in Medellin, "LA FERIA DE LAS FLORES," and for the HOLIDAYS season. To accomplish this, I utilized a lot of visually striking patterns that served to adapt these various messages across press units, outdoor and in-store merchandising. I was co-creator of the highly-awarded digital campaign "EL COROLLA DE FILIPPO," which recorded a young Italian man's journey from Alaska to Patagonia in his 90's Toyota Corolla. We celebrated the confidence and resilience of the Corolla Brand, applicable to even their 20-year-old models. We created a website with illustrations and photos of Filippo's trip where people could check in and track the journey, compare with the 2010 model, and even customize their corolla with fun motifs. One of our most beloved brands was the Luis Angel Arango Library, whose main objective is to teach the importance of reading to the youth Population using adventurous and fresh messaging. Based on the critical insight of creating new traditions and breaking patterns, we created two campaigns. "CHICAS CHICAS" and a BTL effort that took the form of street flyers for "adult shows" encouraged better reading habits.
Art Director
After a significant season in Medellin, I moved to Bogota to work at Ogilvy. My work was to propose new visuals, inspire clients to build cutting-edge Communication pieces, and participate worldwide through creativity festivals. One of the brands that I managed to build critical acclaim for was Kia Motors. I was in charge of all art direction and Ad campaign formats for the Colombian market. Using photographic retouching and illustration, we demonstrated that we could achieve impressive and creative works even with a low budget. SABMiller (now Anheuser-Busch InBev) was one of the brands I spent the most time on. I was responsible for an extensive list of BTL and ATL campaigns for their beer brands: Peroni, Brava, and Redds. In addition, I delivered iconic and successful ideas for TV, print, packaging, and retail.
Junior Art Director
As a Junior Art Director in Havas (former Gomez Chica & Asociados), my role likely involved the following responsibilities:Creating Visual Concepts: Developing visual ideas in response to client briefs, particularly for prominent brands like ÉXITO, SURA Group, and FAMILIA.Collaboration: Working closely with copywriters and other creative team members to produce compelling campaigns across various media platforms.Design Execution: Generating original visual executions that are creatively attractive and aligned with the brand’s identity.Client Interaction: Communicating your ideas effectively and confidently to peers and clients, ensuring the concepts meet client expectations.Media Adaptability: Staying up to date with new media formats and incorporating them into campaigns, including digital communications, marketing materials, and press advertising.Agency Contribution: Assisting in developing the agency’s design offerings and participating in brainstorming sessions. My role required a blend of creativity, teamwork, and the ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining a high-quality standard in my work.
