I am a former practicing solicitor with more than 17 years of experience in employment law. Before joining Brightmine, formerly XpertHR (part of LexisNexis® Risk Solutions), I was an Associate Solicitor at Lyons Davidson in their Fleet Street office. I advised individuals and employers on various contentious and non-contentious employment law matters and delivered training to clients nationally. I have also worked with Acas London to provide training on their behalf. I joined Brightmine in 2017. I am a Senior Legal Editor in the employment law and compliance team. In this role, I am responsible for writing, updating and editing content across our policies and procedures, letters and forms and contract clauses. My parents, both from the Punjab, migrated to Britain from Kenya in the 1970s. I can speak Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and conversational Italian, but only in the past or present tense (Italian verbs are impossible). I have lived in London for almost 20 years. In my downtime, you will usually find me at a food market, museum, art gallery or somewhere drinking coffee. The ultimate highlight of my last 12 months has to be throwing shapes on stage with my reggae idol at the Jazz Café and taking a selfie with Matt Frei! All views are my own.
