My first business instructor was my grandfather, Max Kruger. He owned and managed a network of high-end jewelry stores, which included china, silver, and crystal departments. He and my grandmother were the principal buyers for their business, and they shopped the world for the best quality merchandise and exclusive designs. Their clients were not only grateful, they were addicted. They were treated like our extended family, and they would often stop in just to marvel at the ever evolving state-of-the art watches, cut gems, and modern designs in cut glass, silver, and gold.I took the attitude of an owner to every job I’ve ever held. When I was a 15-year-old Baskin Robbins employee, I literally recruited over half of our crew, and insisted on learning every aspect of the business, including the intricate secrets of building ice cream cakes. I took that same attitude at the Tom Thumb (grocery store) delicatessen. Like my grandfather, customers used to wait to be served by me, and like my grandfather, I often knew what they wanted to buy, as well as what they might enjoy trying when I waited on them.By my first semester in law school, I had the confidence of ten years in business to business sales. My consultative approach helped me eclipse my monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals. My ambition helped me land jobs in logistics, digital communication, real estate, and medical hardware.By my second semester of law school I was demonstrating my ability to take a raw concept, design a viable business model around it, and pitch it effectively to venture capitalists.When I consult with a business executive or owner, I bring over 30 years of success with me. Given the proper tools to assess and advise, my strategies are designed to withstand the worst market conditions, and flourish when times are good.
