Iowa JPEC's Venture Mentoring Service uses the Team Mentoring methodology licensed from the MIT Venture Mentoring Service (MIT VMS) to link entrepreneurial ventures with experienced mentors. While working on a powerhouse team of ex-McKinsey partners, NYU post-grads and several international advisors, I spearheaded the research and development behind YaizY's US outreach in Q1 of 2022. I wanted a crash course on sales, so I found a job as a cold caller. My biggest takeaways were gains in persistence, improvisation and remaining composed. I also came away from the experience with a profound respect for people who make a career out of cold calling. It's a thankless job. By being present during each conversation, I assisted the UI Telefund team in reaching over $1M in contributions during the 2016 fiscal year.
