Zone Nine is an informal collective of young Ethiopian bloggers working together to create an alternative and independent narrative on the socio-political conditions of Ethiopia. The collective is established under the motto of 'We blog because we care' and we are the winners of: 1. Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) 2015 International Press Freedom award,2. Reporters without Borders (RSF) 2015 Press Freedom Prize in the Citizen-Journalist category,3. Human Right Watch (HRW) 2015 Hellman-Hammett award, and,4. One of the three finalists for 2016 Martin Ennals award.

As a Fellow-in-Residence, principally, I’m delving through the intricacies of Legal Pluralism and intergovernmental relations in African Federations.

As a visiting scholar, I'm studying the ever-changing digital platforms of Sub-Saharan Africa and how netizens are using the plethora of new technologies in advancing their causes: including digital civil action.

As a visiting scholar, I work on various research projects including researches on human rights and democratization in Africa, counterterrorism, and Public International law.

As a Deputy Editor-in-Chief of a bi-monthly Ethiopian Magazine, Weyeyet, I regularly wrote feature articles that mainly focused on Ethiopia. Furthermore, I work as one of the members of the editorial team who often edits stories and contributing for the editorial.

During my tenure at Ambo University, I teach different Domestic and International laws to undergrad law students. Inter alia, Jurisprudence, International Environmental Law, Ethiopian Property Law, Ethiopian Contract Law, Ethiopian Tax Law, Bussiness Law, Ethiopian Civil Procedure Law, Ethiopian Family Law are the major ones. Besides my teaching activities, I work and participated in various researches—collectively and individually.

As a Legal Expert at AUDA, I represent the institution in various litigations, and I advise the formulation of many regulations and directives that were focused on urbanization and development.
