About Zelda Engeler-Young

I'm a recent Hendrix College graduate with a degree in in Literary Studies. I've found joy working with words in more contexts than I thought possible, from writing non-fiction articles on the ecology of the Flint Hills to editing the essays of humanitarian nurses to polishing my thesis about the prosody of Alexander Pope. I often serve as a Writing Associate at Hendrix, and I delight in helping my fellow students look after their words. In the summer of 2019, I travelled to Spain and completed the Superior Courses offered by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and discovered, among other things, the joy of Spanish punk rock and the fact that the world contains more wonder than I ever could have imagined. I spent nine months as an intern for the Oxford American, working as a fact-checker, reviewing submissions, and maintaining social media presence, and I adored my small part in promoting and supporting the great writing of the South. When it comes to literature, language, and the small details of writing, I'm always ready for a new adventure.
