Ms. Hazel Dela Torre Pagao was appointed as Information Technology Officer I for the Department of Information and Communication Technology, a national government agency created in 2016 to be the primary policy, planning, coordinating, implementing, and administrative entity of the Executive Branch of the government that will plan, develop, and promote the national ICT development agenda.Ms. Pagao’s extensive professional experience has revolved around the ICT industry both in public and private practice.Before joining DICT, she had her own digital marketing and web development business.As the designated Provincial Officer for DICT Region IVA-Laguna, she oversees the overall implementation of DICT projects in the Province of Laguna. She is also the Tech4ED Project Focal of DICT Region IV-A, the project being one of the DICT's flagship programs. Her dedication to the project resulted in the development and establishment of Tech4ED centers in schools, PWD centers, libraries, and even jails throughout Camarines Norte Province, where persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) are given access to productivity and skills training in preparation for their eventual release into the free world. She hopes to do the same in the new region she's been assigned. Indeed, Ms. Pagao is involved in a variety of ICT-related efforts, both private and public, because they are all part of her advocacy. An advocacy that will have an important impact in the years to come, an advocacy that will involve generations of Filipino families, an advocacy that plays a big role in nation-building; and that advocacy is: A nation’s progress through ICT, is a Filipino’s opportunity for a better life.
