The Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) program is an academic enrichment and leadership development initiative administered by the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at Yale. YYGS offers educational programming to over 1,800 high school students from over 150 different countries (including all 50+ U.S. states & territories) around the world each year. The Associate Director of Admissions is responsible for a wide range of activities, including: providing the strategic vision for outreach and marketing for YYGS on-campus and overseas sessions; attending in-person recruiting events and hosting admission sessions; training application readers on best practices for evaluation; assessing applicant pool and developing strategy to reach targeted populations; analyzing admissions trends through data collection and reporting; evaluating the YYGS application and registration process and leading efforts for potential improvements; managing the application review process of 10,000+ applications annually; managing the financial aid review and distribution process, and serving as a point of contact for admitted students and families.

Responsibilities included: Providing vital programmatic and administrative support to ensure the ongoing growth, effectiveness, and sustainability of the National Partnership for Educational Access (NPEA). Worked in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Associate Director to communicate with members, conduct member outreach, track data, evaluate member benefits, and support the design and delivery of an outstanding Annual Conference and other member events. Provided high-quality customer service to members through outstanding written and verbal communication; updated and maintained website, social media, and member communications; planned and facilitatied professional development webinars; synthesized news, research, and trends in education access to craft monthly digests and industry newsletters; managed all membership applications, renewals, and payment processes; assisted in all areas of regional and local events; and provided support in implementation of organizational priorities, including membership retention plan, collective impact data project (NPEA Data Counts), NPEA Advisory Board and other committees and strategic activities.

Responsibilities included: Managing a program of afterschool academic enrichment classes, college campus-based summer programs and tutoring for students in grades nine through twelve; coordination and oversight of internship program, including recruitment of internship sites, managing site relationships and monitoring performance and engagement of high school interns; coordinating major academic events; and preparing reports on students' performance, program objectives, activities and outcomes.

Facilitated new employee training, taught Summer Enrichment at Dartmouth (SEAD) College Application course, drafted Language in Motion (LIM) annual report to The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, created presentation materials and final report for civic seminar entitled “Beyond the Bubble: Engaging Dartmouth Students in the Community and the World," which 70 people (students, faculty, staff) attended.

AWH is a 3-week online course for admitted international masters students at HGSE that introduces them to academic writing and the HGSE community. In this position I collected feedback from staff and students, researched best practices for online learning, attended Academic Writing Conference at MIT, created report with recommendations, and implemented changes to the course website.

I worked as a coordinator for the Summer Enrichment at Dartmouth (SEAD) and Language in Motion (LIM) programs, which are college access programs that connect undergraduates with high school students in under-resourced urban and rural communities across the country. My responsibilities included marketing the programs, recruiting, hiring and supervising students, conducting training workshops, co-teaching a summer SAT course, developing and maintaining relationships with community partners, formative assessment, and significant program development (e.g. co-created Resource & Replication Manuals, co-facilitated strategic planning process, co-presented to Executive Boards of foundations, and attended and co-presented at national conferences).

As a VISTA, I worked with the Alternative Spring Break (ASB) trips, Dartmouth Partners in Community Service (DPCS), and Summer Enrichment at Dartmouth (SEAD) programs. ASB trips are student-run, funded service trips that work with non-profit organizations in under-resourced communities across the country, and include a semester curriculum of weekly workshops prior to the trips. The DPCS program provides funding for students with an off-term to volunteer full-time doing direct service with a non-profit organization anywhere in the U.S., and connects them to Dartmouth alumni mentors in their area. My responsibilities included marketing the programs, recruiting, hiring and supervising students, conducting training workshops, developing and maintaining relationships with community partners, formative assessment, and significant program development (e.g. overhauling major program documents, such as policies, application forms, and training materials).

Center for Talented Youth (CTY) summer programs consist of two 3-week residential programs for middle and high school students, and the program is ultimately coordinated by John Hopkins University (JHU) but sets up camp at various sites across the country (such as this site at Skidmore College). The program's two major components for participants include enrollment in a rigorous, accelerated academic course and then a recreational, residential program aimed at developing social skills, going outside comfort zones, and building community. My responsibilities as an RA for each of the two summers that I worked at CTY included overseeing and mentoring a hall of 12-16 girls, as well as participating in the team of undergraduate RAs, which involved designing and facilitating the recreational programming for all 300+ students.
