  • Şat-2
Project Management & Business Development Coordinator
    Şat-2 Jun 2014 - Aug 2015
    Istanbul, Turkey
Coordinated the relaunch of ŞAT, Turkey's legendary music production company, founded by famous musicians Şanar Yurdatapan and Attila Özdemiroğlu in the early 70's. ŞAT had produced more than 1.000 hits and introduced many Turkish pop icons like Sezen Aksu and Nilufer to the music industry. Set off to bring innovative projects to today's music industry, ŞAT-2 started with two brand new projects:1) boutique, tailor made love songs, as an affluent market product and2) an online & TV karaoke competition, for which Şanar and Attila wrote a brand new song each month, and donated the rights to the public, meaning that anybody could sing, record, produce or distribute these songs as they pleased. Furthermore each month, one female and one male vocal were selected to become ŞAT queen and king of the month and got the opportunity to live-perform on TV.Special Note: As we mourn the loss of Attila Özdemiroğlu, who passed away in early 2016, we look back on ŞAT-2 as a great opportunity we were given, to work with this great musician, humanitarian and human being.
  • Mekanist.Net
    Head Of Community & Content
    Mekanist.Net Sep 2013 - Mar 2015
    Istanbul, Turkey
Being a platform, that builds its power on user generated content; Mekanist's community, is the heart of its business. We mainly engage in content management, in order to inspire our community to share more and better content themselves. Hence, growing, nurturing & managing our community are the fundamentals of our marketing strategy. As of September 2013, we have re-merged our content and community teams and I’m leading both as “Head of Community & Content”.My team’s responsibilities include...● engaging users to become more active on the platform and motivating them towards generating more content;● organizing power-user meetings at restaurants and other SMB partners● organizing special events● curating user content; writing and editing the weekly newsletter● establishing strong SMB relationships in order to be able to become the key connector between businesses and end-users● managing Mekanist’s social media accounts● (mobile) product marketing● conducting marketing campaigns● designing & executing third party partnership projectsExtra info: In addition to the content on Mekanist's website, mobile apps and weekly newsletters, my team is now publishing a monthly newspaper supplement, promoting food and restaurants, that is inserted in the national newspaper Milliyet.Update: Mekanist.net was bought by Zomato in February 2015, after which I exited the company.
  • Mekanist.Net
    Head Of Content
    Mekanist.Net Oct 2012 - Aug 2013
In 2012, Mekanist which had now reached its tipping point in terms of size and influence of its user base, started exploring different kinds of revenue models. In this year, we started to take “curation” a step further, mixing it with editorial content which would be sellable. We soon found out, that our community especially valued restaurant recommendations with “explore value”. They “followed” Mekanist in order to become aware of small businesses they normally would not have heard of, but that offered a great experience in terms of flavor and service. The following 10 months I focused on “content” only; enabling me to enhance both, my writing as well as my editing skills. Setting up Mekanist’s first editorial content blogs and the accompanying new newsletters also hellde me develop my technical, content distribution skills. When the editorial content model was well tested and proven to be successful, we set up a team of writers and photographers, delivering editorial as well as advertorial content. During this period we also launched our English blog for tourists and expats.
  • Mekanist.Net
    Manager, Community & Content
    Mekanist.Net Mar 2009 - Sep 2012
Founded in May, 2008; Mekanist started monitoring and curating its user generated content in 2009, when I joined the team as employee #1. Only 2 months later we launched its first community loyalty program “Gezgin & Guru” which remained the main motivation tool for power-users. From 2009-2014, we grew Mekanist’s community to 1300 active power-users, that generated an average of 250+ reviews per user. The total number of registered users as of April, 2014 exceeded 1.2 mio.In 2010, when the “Groupon” business model grew extremely popular in Turkey, Mekanist launched its sub-brand “Mekanist Fırsat” which we successfully operated for more than a year. It was closed down, due to our and our new Silicon Valley investors’ forecasts, that the coupon market would soon exhaust itself, whereas Mekanist’s leading position in the restaurant recommendation business would get stronger and firmer in time. The B2C e-business experience taught us a lot and it also helped me personally, to build closer SMB relations.
