Pump Pressure Fluctuation CES• Design control logic to prevent the pump pressure high issue: 1 Change doser optimal on/off time to make a shorter doser off time to reduce pump pressure. 2 Enable PI control to make the PI work to compensate high FF cmd during diagnostic wait period to reduce pump pressure to pump target pressure.

78L engine Aftertreatment system project• CAN hardware setup: Setup for NOx sensor (engine out and tailpipe in), DEF tank, DEF lines, DEF pump and DEF doser. 24V battery, key box, parent and child ACM and heating system• Gartech OBD box hardware setup and software validation : Install Gartech digital display on CAN-A. Research Student 9/2012 to 12/2013Electronic throttle Control Michigan Tech • Developed a remote electronic throttle control system to communicate two ECUs on the same CAN bus, message definition, payload manipulation, bus monitoring, and used CAN-King to analyze and diagnose the CAN messages in real-time, tuned the PI controller gain Kp and Ki to get a good ETC control performance. 2/2013 to 5/2013Fuel Injection Control Michigan Tech • Developed engine state machine including stall, crank and run mode and output a PI controlled mass fuel flow rate requested from pedal position • Developed Max and Min Gov engine RPM limiter. • Based on the lookup tables of engine RPM, injection duration, and start of injection (SOI) to realize the fuel injection control. 9/2012 to 1/2013Gasoline engine MAF prediction model in Motohawk/Simulink Michigan Tech• Designed a control model to use the map of throttle effective area to estimate the MAF into the intake plenum and then predicted the MAF exiting the intake plenum by using a volumetric-efficiency map.

HCCI engine project 1/2012 to 10/2012• Design HEV powertrain test cell. Increase the compression ratio of the original engine (GM Ecotec 2.0L turbocharged engine) to 13.0 as the requirement of a typical HCCI engine. Bought and installed thermocouples, pressure transducers, air flow fuel meter, throttle body, air intake, exhaust plumbing, air heater, inter-cooler to be installed on the GM Ecotec 2.0L engine.• Parameterize the HCCI physical model for the new engine and develop a complete gray-box model using neural network method to predict major HCCI engine output such as CA50, Texh, and emissions.
