After four years of undergraduate study in chemical engineering and participation in the Cooper Union Steel Bridge team, I found myself became fascinated with structural mechanics. I never let my major stopped me from learning what I need to contribute to my team. It was an unusual path to take, but I believe this experience has made me a unique type of civil engineer.I’ve learned to communicate and collaborate with people from different disciplines as the team fabricates bridges for the competition. As the leader of the team, I have developed skills that allow me to remain calm even when under intense pressure and provide the team with solutions that have the optimal results. As I continue my studies as a civil engineer, I will continue to take on more challenges — even if they are the "unusual paths."
