Mr. Zhong Chen is a civil engineer, a land surveyor and an entrepreneur. In 1994, he founded Dynasty Group, Inc. (www.dynastygrp.com), a Chicago based consulting engineering and land surveying firm that specializes in design engineering, construction engineering, surveying, nondestructive testing and GIS/BIM services. Under his leadership, Dynasty Group has grown from a one-man company to a multimillion-dollar corporation. In 2004, the firm expanded services into China, with its leading expertise in 3D laser scanning and nondestructive testing in concrete.In 2012, Mr. Chen and his associates founded uGRIDD Corporation (www.uGRIDD.com), an affordable web-based service that offers georeferening for infrastructure data. The website provides customers with a platform to show, share and find data, which helps them to generate revenue, reduce cost, improve efficiency, devise solutions and develop publicity. Dynasty Group has utilized uGRIDD technology on its projects, resulting in a double-digit growth in 2010, 2011, and 2012.Mr. Chen is a regular contributor to his column at www.geodatapoint.com. The online magazine rated one of his articles: “Who Should Perform As-built Surveys” the number one of the “Top Five Articles of 2012”. Mr. Chen has also presented at many professional conferences in the surveying and geospatial solution fields.Mr. Chen came to Chicago in 1985 from Beijing, China to attend the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) with a full scholarship. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, he began working for a private consulting firm. At the same time, he started his graduate degree program at IIT and earned his master's degree in structural engineering after two years.
