Worked in Google Domain Search team. Focused on frontend development using Angular 2+ and Typescript.I led the development of several core features, including:- Migrate search UI from GWT to Material- Implement favorites feature for Domains- Implement a cool feature highlight component that can be used for highlighting any new feature that is introduced into the product, and may potentially be migrated to Angular upstream by future engineers

EC2 User Profile Service (UPS)- Owner of UPS which is a service that aggregates AWS accounts information and billing history from various internal systems and stores whitelisting and exception data specific to EC2 security and abuse services.- Great improvement on the performance for APIs to return billing history of AWS accounts, reducing p99 latency from > 10 seconds to < 1 second.- Re-designed UPS whitelists and implemented exceptions feature so that UPS becomes a central EC2 whitelisting service, allowing targeted whitelist of EC2 instances and AWS accounts for penetration testing and load testing.- Integrated with internal services to build a push model to expose whitelist data, avoiding huge number of API calls which is not scalable and sustainable from client services.- Continuously refactor code to be more testable, raising test coverage from 17% to 57%.EC2 Security Tools- Took ownership of EC2 Security Tools from EC2 Security Engineering team. The tools contain scripts such as DDoS Mitigator (DDM), Customer Region Blocker (CRB) which are sharp tools that could apply network isolation or port blocks to any EC2 instances.- Rewrote DDM and CRB scripts to minimize incorrect mitigations. Built integration tests from scratch for various input data and contexts to ensure that instances are blocked appropriately.- Implemented safe guards such as filtering traffic data by applying threshold per port, forced quitting if input data contains multiple destination IPs or ports.- Enhanced the performance of DDM scripts, decreasing the average time of instances blocking from > 3 hours to < 20 minutes, saving precious time for security engineers especially during a DDoS event in the midnight.IP Reachability Service- Built prototype of IP Reachability Service to regularly check if Alexa Top 1000 most popular websites are reachable from every available region, and also from other cloud providers such as Azure and Google Cloud.

Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP)- Analyzed each annual SCIP specification updates. Released standard reports for hospital quality management staff. Reports passed certification requirements from CMS, which allowed hospital organizations to acquire millions of dollars of reimbursements.- Enhanced SCIP reports to transition from using procedure groupers to using ICD-9/10 procedure codes, which was an existing issue for ~8 years.- Collaborated with anesthesiologists/pharmacists from Yale New Haven Health System to deliver special requested SCIP development, which allowed Epic to gain extra payment.NSQIP (National Surgical Quality Improvement Project)- NSQIP is a national project initiated by American College of Surgeons (ACS) to track patients’ surgical outcome.- Designed and implemented the NSQIP module to collect hundred pieces of discrete surgeries related data elements from Epic’s database, allowing Epic to become the first company in the healthcare industry to support automatic data submission to ACS.- Formatted data in XML and invoked the third party ACS uploader to submit the XML to ACS database. Implemented a similar uploader internally in C++ to mimic the behavior of the ACS uploader for easy testing.Snapboard- Developed a full screen touch friendly version of Snapboard which can be displayed on a large 4K monitor within operating room suite.- Prototyped lunch/break module on the full screen Snapboard, allowing charge nurses and anesthesiologist coordinators to track whether their staff have taken lunches or breaks.Management/Recruitment- Owner of team design triage/programming QA (PQA) process. Assigned reviewers/PQAers for surgeries related designs and development logs.- Phone screened ~40 software developer candidates. Graded ~700 programming solutions for online interviews.- Mentored ~5 new team members, pair programmed on a few projects and guided them through a complete development process.

Developed automated web tests in Java using web application testing system Selenium, which reduced high amount of manual testing effort.Trained quality assurance managers and engineers for Java.

Analyzed open-source Compass search engine and applied the engine to search comments for Virtual Collaboration Community project using Java.
