Manage public art projects within one of the nation’s largest and most diverse public art programs. Works statewide with the public schools, colleges and universities, and state agencies. I provide technical assistance, negotiates public art contracts, facilitates the selection of artists and oversees all aspects of the project. Manage 20 -30 Public Art project concurrently. Responsible for project budget preparation and administration. Ability to work positively with diverse groups of artists, selection and review committees, as well as design, fabrication and construction professionals. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, executive and director level management, Commissioners, vendors, outside agencies, community groups and the general public.

As well as continuing to oversee the Public Art Program, the Deputy Director assists with the oversight of operations, planning and programs, helping to integrate all of the work of the New Mexico Arts into a cohesive, organized strategy. Develop annual department budget. Directly supervises a team of three full time employees and one contractor, supporting each individual's professional development and growth as a team. Manage direct and indirect staff, including hiring, coaching, performance evaluation and disciplinary activities. Research, evaluate, design, develop, and implement new policies, procedures, standards and best practices for the Division. Assist and advise upper management in the development of long-range plans, goals, and new programming to achieve goals for the Division. The Deputy is a close and trusted adviser to the Executive Director, working to strengthening the internal foundation that supports New Arts Mission.

Including but not limited to…Oversee daily operation of Art in Public Places Program including more than $3 million in state public art projects per year, directed the restructuring of the New Mexico Only Purchase Initiative guidelines. Oversaw the transition to an online application process for the state public art program. Continually working with staff to update and streamline all AIPP program. Responsible for the creation of the Art in Public Places Program’s annual Submission review panel as well as the final approval of all Local Selection Committees and Regional Buying Committees. Oversee the Art in Public Places sections of the division's strategic plan for the NEA. Conceived and implemented the opening of the NMA Centennial Project Space. Responsible for the drafting and filing of the programs administrative code. Daily responsibilities include… Research, evaluate, design, develop, and implement new policies, procedures, standards and best practices for Public Art. Supervise the art handler who provides normal art transportation and installation duties on a contract basis. Prepare public art plans and facilitate panels for artist selections, contract management, and expected deliverables to ensure that goals and objectives are met. Prepare reports of projects and overall program performance to upper leadership. Responsible for directing, managing and coordinating all aspects of the New Mexico Art Permanent Collection, to include but not limited to acquisitions of new works of art as well as the maintenance of the permanent art collections, and the expansion of the temporary art loan program.

Oversaw several million dollars in public art projects. Conceived and developed TIME (Temporary installations Made for the Environment), New Mexico Arts highly successful temporary public art initiative. Managed the AIPP Permanent Collection and loan program. Trained new public art employees, including fellow public art program coordinators in coordination with public art manager.
