As a Student Ambassador, I was tasked with running and overseeing some of Engineering New Zealand’s events, such as Speed Interviewing, where I was involved with contact between Engineering New Zealand members as well as industry representatives.

During the summer of 2023/24, I was privileged enough to be a part of GHD Geotech’s Auckland team. I was exposed to many valuable experiences, such as hand augering, road inspections, slip remediations and many more. Being able to develop new connections while working in a field I’m extremely passionate about was truly a magnificent experience for me.

As a crew member at Kai Eatery, I learnt a lot about teamwork and communication. Working in hospitality is by no means an easy task, therefore it’s important for employees to stay in constant communication with one another to ensure the best possible results for customers.

This was a role where I had to take care of a teenager with Down Syndrome and accompany them at a Christian Camp in Ngaruawahia, New Zealand. While it was a challenging role, it taught me a lot about communicating effectively with others, and how important it is for others to understand your thoughts and intentions.

This role involved the planning, co-ordinating, and carrying out of small youth group events for young children. Through this experience I learnt how important it is to communicate effectively and to be able to adapt to the situation. This enables a smooth and enjoyable experience for all involved.
