Trained as an actuary, I took a pivot into the non-profit world and am now running a social enterprise that I co-founded. With my core technical skills in analysis and finance, I watch over the books. The core skill that I've built in the past decade working with rural indigenous community is community outreach, specifically effective communication. Due to my current work in the villages, I've also branched into issues of food system, and sustainability, working the whole vertical from production all the way to the end consumers. This has afforded me with multiple speaking engagements to share our work and learnings from the indigenous communities with regards to regenerative farming (as I farmed with them for 3 years). My exposure to remote places where indigenous communities still rely on the forests for food has given me access to unique and exotic produce (cultivated, hunted or foraged). This has fueled our foray into food, collaborating with chefs, providing them with unique produce and contributing to the conversation of what modern Malaysian cuisine is and can be about.I run regularly and trek the forests. On top of that, I also play the 'erhu' and piano. I'm obsessed with food, fascinated with history, culture and music, but ultimately it is nature that heals and centers.
