Helium implantation creates a network of bubbles that strongly affect the hydrogen retention properties in tungsten. Employed super-computers such as NERSC at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and TITAN at Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL) to perform molecular dynamics and ab-initio calculations exploring the origins of hydrogen-helium synergies in plasma-facing components that occur due to plasma-surface interactions within a tokamak fusion reactor. In collaboration with Los Almos National Lab (LANL) and ORNL, presented a comprehensive picture of H behavior near W surfaces and noble gas interfaces to assess the H trapping capability of subsurface He bubbles.

Built plastic scintillating neutron detectors that form the fundamental unit of the Versatile Array of Neutron Detectors at Low Energy (VANDLE).
