Modelled the stellar content and gas-phase chemical abundances of galaxies.Highlights:- Devised simulation-based inference framework to indirectly measure galaxy star-formation histories using low-dimensional projections of massively-hyperspectral images- Trained PCA model on synthetic hyperspectral images of known star-formation histories, evaluating reliability of resulting inferred mass-to-light ratio, dust foreground, and stellar element abundance estimates on held-out simulations- Delivered & released catalog of total and resolved galaxy stellar masses for a sample of ~10.5k galaxies (~10M spectroscopic pointings)- Conducted geostatistical modeling of gaseous heavy-element abundance, uncovering an important systematic measurement error arising from local variation in stellar content- Developed physical model of gaseous inflow to explain a newly-measured over-dispersion of heavy element content coinciding with both a rapid radial change in heavy element content and an enhancement in galaxy-wide gas content.- Inferred typical pre-inflow galaxy heavy-element content using Dirichlet-process Gaussian mixture model; using those results to estimate impact, spatial scale, and observability of gaseous inflows

This was done by automated, scripted, and efficient retrieval of large amounts of data, followed by association of any objects found with NORAD two-line-elements (TLEs), and (when appropriate), materials and orientation characterization.
