I volunteer to help lead the Greater Omaha Area's VMware User Group.Along with co-leading our meetings, I have also presented twice. The first time, providing an overview of IPG and how it uses virtualization. The second presentation covered VMware's vCenter Orchestrator and how it has helped IPG with orchestrating repetitive tasks.

Responsible for maintaining & upgrading the bank's VMware and Cisco UCS infrastructure as well as researching and designing for the environment.Currently focusing on automating many aspects of the datacenter (compute, storage and networking) while deploying a self-service portal for the IT department as well as other business units. Increasing efficiency, speed, and services provided are paramount. In turn, this will reduce repetitive tasks and errors and free up IT resources to focus on more important tasks. Developed and deployed a private cloud for the bank using vRealize Automation. Numerous vRealize Orchestrator workflows were developed to make vRA usable for Bank of the West's unique environment.

I lead an upgrade of the VMware vSphere/vCenter environment from 5.0 to 5.5 as well as performing optimization. I also integrated other VMware products into their environment like vCenter Operations Manager & Log Insight. Installed and deployed an IAAS environment for a client that included an isolated VMware environment attached to a Nimbus flash array and QNAP array for backups.I feel my capacity planning, purchasing new hardware, and providing new solutions to their problems were my biggest contributions.

As the lead virtualization engineer for IPG, I determine how virtualization will be used in our primary/secondary datacenters as well as set and document standards. I am also responsible for the HP c7000 enclosures (32) in our primary datacenter and their network/storage uplinks.I also assist the IT teams within IPG's operating companies with their virtualization efforts. I am not limited to virtualization when working with our operating companies, however. I have been in multiple migration efforts while providing expertise in virtualization, servers, storage, Microsoft clusters, and any other task that may be asked of myself.

My main focus is on virtualization and how IPG can further leverage this technology to save money and provide better services to its agencies. I work with VMware's vSphere and Microsoft's Hyper-V. Virtualization strategies are also developed for IPG's remote agencies to best suit their environment. When the strategy is accepted, I also help implement it and train the on-site administrators. When I'm not working with virtualization I am also given high-priority issues within IPG's datacenter environments and also within our remote agency offices around the world. Many other things are thrown my way which provides great challenges and are always welcome.Was part of the small team that developed the VDI solution for the email stations across VMworld 2012. I then deployed the solution on-site.

I oversee IPG's global virtual environment in Omaha, Chicago, and London. The environment consists of over 50 hosts and over 750 virtual machines. Along with the virtual environment, I am active in the storage management across numerous HP EVAs and 3PAR SANs. I also manage non-agency web and FTP servers and their applications.

Helped build out a new enterprise-class datacenter. I was involved in every step of deploying a new server including: racking,wiring (copper and fiber channel), installing OS, installing agents (monitoring, backup, etc), requesting firewall modifications, cluster configurations, and handing off the deployed server to the client. I was also involved with troubleshooting issues that arise on any of the physical and virtual servers.
