I started leading NBL Securities Limited (NBLSL), subsidiary of National Bank Limited (NBL) as the main driving force towards its transformation journey through HR policy establishment and restructuring, technological development and adaptation, infrastructural enhancement, ensuring financial stability and profitability.NBLSL adopted HR Policy and Standard Operating Procedures relevant to capital market, while staying aligned with NBL’s HR Policy and Bangladesh Labor Act and Rules. Before the policy, NBLSL harbored employees under the employment rules, HR services, HR policies of NBL and shifted the employes to newly HR structure of NBLSL. Accordingly, NBLSL hired new employees and implemented a dedicated HRIS software solution to eliminate the dependencies on HRIS of NBL. Consequently, our own NBR recognized PF and Gratuity Funds have been established by NBLSL. The outdated back-office software was unable to cater to current needs and has been replaced by CAPITA, DSE approved back-office software and went live from January 2024. NBLSL acquired approval for its own Order Management System (OMS) from ZagTrade in the shortest possible time from the regulators and deployed its own developed dedicated trading app (‘TREK’) to enable clients to do trades using handheld devices.NBLSL has moved into new a fully re-furnished and re-designed Head Office with modern amenities and completion of relocation, renovation, and refurnishing of four existing branches to make a solid and refreshed identity. The company operated without any comprehensive margin loan policy and finally was introduced to alleviate the strain on financial resources while safeguarding clients’ investments. Similarly, we introduced an Investment Policy for proprietary investments for proper fund management. Increasing provisioning against unrealized losses, regularization of loan payment with parent bank and investment in Government Securities (G-Sec) are the steps to strengthen the financial outlook.
